Patient Billing
Summit Pathology provides pathology, cytology and molecular testing services for many physician offices throughout Colorado and Wyoming, as well as for surgical specimens at North Colorado Medical Center, McKee Medical Center, Poudre Valley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies, East Morgan County Hospital, Estes Park Medical Center, as well as numerous surgery centers in the region.
We realize that getting a bill from Summit Pathology may be confusing because you didn't see one of our physicians. We are responsible for evaluating tissue and cell samples that are collected from patients in hospitals and physician offices, and bill for our services pertaining to the evaluation of those specimen. The pathologist fee is not included in your physician or hospital bill.
As a service to you, Summit Pathology will bill the insurance provided to us by your physician. The insurance company may or may not cover that charge. It's important to be familiar with your particular insurance plan and understand what services your plan covers and whether that plan includes a deductible. After the insurance company has paid their portion of the bill, Summit Pathology will bill the patient for the remaining balance. Patients can pay that bill by mail, by phone, or on-line.
